Building Arm Strenght
Grip and pinch strength are both extremely important attributes as well as non-negotiables when talking about the functional integrity of the hand.
First off, "wrist action" is an important lever in the pitching motion.
In fact, Norihisa Fujii from the University of Tsukuba concluded after a 2002 study that "wrist flexion" and strength are major contributors to increasing throwing velocity, efficiency of arm action, and recovery.
In addition, many pitching coaches have incorporated a “wrist flick” during their throwing warm-up progression. The Lexington Clinic reported that the wrist accounted for 10% of the force applied to the baseball during the pitching delivery.
Force is not the only function the wrist may perform. Many pitching instructors agree that proper wrist movement can help a pitcher control and command of pitches to their target.
Building Bat speed
With the Bat speed & Arm Strength Forearm Blast, players can develop grip strength "personal bests" that translate to bat speed & arm speed.
At the elite level, one thing most hitters have in common is a strength that starts from the fingertips and ends at the elbow.
GRIP STRENGTH!
A good example would be to look at the careers of three hitters.
Dustin Pedroia - a smaller guy with elite level bat speed and average major league power. Standing at about 5'7 with a good pair of cleats. Perioda could pull the ball for power as well as any MLB slugger.
Jose Altuve - is another small guy who was a real power threat. He had what most scouts would label him as "true power". The ability to drive the ball out of the park to all parts of the field.
Hank Aaron - not the biggest guy, but he was consistently consistent over 20+ years in the major leagues. He dropped the hammer with a slight hitch and produced back-spin for days.
What do these three hitters have in common?
Incredible GRIP STRENGTH!
One thing all elite hitters have in common is the ability to drive the ball to all fields.
To turn on the inside fastball, staying inside to keep it fair.
To drive the ball up the middle with power, consistency, and control of the bat-head.
To drive the ball oppo with authority.
Take a look at the stats of hitters like Donaldson, Pujols, & bonds.
They weren't the greatest power hitters before the pro ball. They were well-rounded hitters who learned how to hit for power when they developed their "man-strength."
